Neptune Systems Trident Water Analyzer

Neptune Systems Trident: Automated Testing for Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium
Available on back-order
The Trident is a fully automated testing system for saltwater aquariums. It measures alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium regularly and integrates seamlessly with your Neptune Apex. When combined with the Neptune DŌS (sold separately), it forms a closed-loop system for maintaining consistent water chemistry through automated dosing adjustments.
Key Features
-
Automatically tests Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium
-
Includes a two-month reagent supply*
-
Works with Neptune DŌS for fully automated dosing
-
Apex Fusion integration for real-time data, graphing, and alerts
-
Plug-and-play setup — no manual calibration or tubing to cut
-
Reagent and sample waste sent to an external container (not included)
-
Reagent supply lasts ~30 days at 4-Alk, 2-Ca, 2-Mg tests/day
*Requires a Neptune Apex or ApexEL with an open 1LINK port or 24V Power Supply and Aquabus cable
How It Works
The Trident automates laboratory-grade colour titration — the same method used by hobbyists and researchers alike. On a scheduled basis, it mixes reagent with a sample of aquarium water and uses an internal colorimeter to detect precise changes. Once complete, used solution is sent to an external waste container, and results are logged in Apex Fusion.
Setup in Under 15 Minutes
No calibration, no cutting tubing, and no complicated assembly. Simply:
-
Plug in one cable
-
Connect two tubes
-
Follow the Apex Fusion app setup wizard
The system walks you through with helpful video tutorials.
Precision and Consistency
-
Alkalinity: ±0.05 dKH
-
Calcium/Magnesium: ±15 ppm
Significantly more accurate than manual hobby-grade test kits. Delivers consistent results with minimal effort.
Data Visibility and Alerts
Your Apex system can be configured to:
-
Send instant alerts when levels fall outside safe ranges
-
Automatically pause dosing systems if anomalies occur
-
Graph test results to reveal patterns, trends, and anomalies
Catch potential issues before they affect your livestock — from overdosing events to unexpected changes in consumption.
Seamless Integration with DÅŒS
When paired with one or more Neptune DŌS Fluid Metering Systems, the Trident enables Automatic Dosing Control (ADC). Based on test results, the system gradually increases or decreases supplement dosing — within safe limits — to maintain your set targets.
-
ADC can adjust each element individually (Alk, Ca, Mg)
-
Works with multi-element systems like Triton
-
Maximum adjustment is capped at ±35% from your baseline to protect against overdosing
-
If additional dosing is needed, the system will pause ADC and alert you
Reagent System
The Trident uses a multi-part reagent kit with a simple swap-out process. Reagent kits contain:
-
2x Reagent A (monthly change)
-
1x Reagent B (bi-monthly)
-
1x Reagent C (bi-monthly)
-
1x Calibration sample bottle
Each two-month kit includes:
-
~240 Alkalinity tests
-
~120 Calcium tests
-
~120 Magnesium tests
Based on default test frequency: 4 Alk / 2 Ca / 2 Mg per day
Quiet Operation
The Trident operates quietly and is barely audible inside most aquarium cabinetry. Compared to other automated testers, it is significantly quieter.
