Live Phytoplankton – T.iso
$15.00
PLEASE NOTE: Due to ordering our live food on a Monday and receiving on a Tuesday, any orders received after Sunday evening may not get dispatched until the following week. We ALWAYS aspire to have extra on hand to cover additional orders but cannot guarantee these numbers each week.
Isochrysis (T.iso) is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids, particularly, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which has been instrumental in fish larviculture, so much so that it is commonly known as liquid gold! It compliments, the commonly available, Nannochloropsis, which is high in eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), but is lacking in DHA), providing a more holistic nutritional profile when combined. Great for feeding live rotifers or dosing an aquarium. Due to its medium cell size, it is suitable as a feed for numerous and diverse phytoplanktivorous and filter feeding aquarium organisms, including corals and even Dendronephthya. It can also form part of an aquarium’s biofiltration as phytoplankton utilizes nitrogen and phosphate in its growth phase.
This culture is grown using media specifically formulated for phytoplankton, not terrestrial plant fertilizers, which can result in unwanted excess nutrients or heavy metals.
Suggested Dosage Instructions:
To feed rotifer culture: feed until rotifer culture is lightly tinted (ideally twice daily or as necessary).
To feed aquarium: 5ml per 50 litres daily Storage: If kept refrigerated, it will last for up to a month from harvest date (noted on the underside).
Sold in 250mL bottles.
