The Vlamingii Tang are silver as a juvenile, and with age, gradually darken into a beautiful black and blue colouration. Their shape also changes from being oval as a juvenile, to a long, bullet-like shape as an adult. These tangs also develop a long horn on the nose when they enter adulthood.
A 1000 litre or larger aquarium with plenty of live rock is necessary to provide plenty of swimming room and places to hide. It is aggressive towards its own species, but peaceful with other fish.
Although Tangs will eat meaty foods along with the other fish in the aquarium, it is important that they are offered plenty of marine based seaweed and algae. This will strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression and improve their overall health.
