The Queensland Biscuit Starfish’s colors can range from yellow, bright orange or red. They have a tiled appearance, with solid white lines separating sections on the top of their body.
Starfish eat by excreting their stomach out onto their prey and retracting it back in. They will primarily eat an omnivorous diet consisting of algae, sponges, and detritus. Like many other starfish, they are highly sensitive to water quality conditions. They should not be paired with predatory fish. tubeworms and clams as they can eat them. They require a tank with plenty of sand, rock, and algae.
The Queensland Biscuit Starfish is required to be kept in an aquarium below 24 degrees Celsius as they are extremely sensitive to temperature. Failure to do this will mean they will slowly disintegrate and perish.
The Queensland Biscuit Starfish is very intolerant of sudden changes in oxygen levels, salinity and pH of the water, and cannot tolerate copper-based medications. The drip acclimation method is highly recommended for all Starfish due to their intolerability to changes in water chemistry. It should never be exposed to air while handling.
It is recommended to supplement its diet with small pieces of shrimp, mussel, or flaked food.
